Projects
Preparation and organization should be the overall project strategy. It will help create confidence, knowledge and better certainty - regarding how much; money, time and space is required to live in your DREAM kitchen. Which, initially is a big unknown! Here a few simple and proactive things you should do:
1st, Congratulate yourself on making the committed decision. The average new kitchen remodel cost (150-225 sq.ft.) ranges between $32,000 - $56,000.
2nd, How do you want to live in your DREAM kitchen? create a wish list of features (decor & style related - color, texture, architectural detail, cabinet door details etc..) and functions (use related - appliances, cabinet storage, plumbing & lighting fixtures etc..)
3rd, Establish clarity and competition. Invest $350-$700 with a kitchen design consultant. These plans and drawings create the required scope-of-work, aka SOW. Giving your project the ability to have sub-contractors bid the line item trade specific; carpenter, plumber, electrician, painter etc...labor cost.
In the meantime, you can start developing your project budget by gathering; appliance, flooring, plumbing & light fixture prices. Once the kitchen plan is finalized with you and the designer, cabinets and counters can be priced. These finished material selections are typically biggest cost variables on every project. This organizing preparation process should take between 2-3 weeks.
